S. Hohol is the artist who depicts the display of so called Ukrainian “low” culture in neo-classic manner. The heroes of his paintings are the examples of contemporary Ukrainian phenomenon, when some ignorant and immoral people in Ukraine became very quickly the millionaires in some years. The artist’s paintings challenge often the viewers’ laugh and criticize the display of the ill society of the so-called Ukrainian nouveau riches.
