ZHLOB. ZLOBSTVO. ZHLOBISM. *
The national Ukrainian art-cultural project
*(The word “zhlob” in Ukrainian means “ignorant, violent, intolerant, uncultured, etc. person” and stands, for example, for “red-neck” in American English).
On April 2, 2009 the project “ZHLOB. ZHLOBSTVO. ZHLOBISM” started in Ukraine. This project has the special aim- to research the different kinds of social-cultural phenomenon, which widely called “zhlobstvo”. These terms are widely used in Ukrainian mode of life but they are not researched still, don’t have the linguistic definition and seem to be своеобразной “terra incognita”. It has to be visualized, researched and classified with the help of artistic methods, which in the end will make the basis for the creation of “The World Encyclopedia of Zhlobstvo”, which is the great aim of our project.
